When looking at the front cover and contents page from a denotations/connotations point of view we can see that most of of the magazine falls under denotation meaning that most of the content is the literal meaning, this may not have been a good choice as the target audience would be teenagers and a connotation style of language would provoke emotive (or otherwise) interpritaions of the langauge used, allthough that said the magazine dose apeal to the target audience in the sense that there are pictures of real students (which they may even know) on the front cover. I think my magazine is aporpiate in the sense that the colour scheme is apealing and also because it conforms to the college's logo's colour scheme. I used may be considered a bit too conservative for an audience of which it is targeted at however in doing this it does make the text very readable and non-patronizing. Images used are not of a high standard as they are all in questionable lighting (although in focus) and are all of similar shot distances and of similar angles. Using computer monitors as props is a good choice in the sense that any image can be loaded onto them and can be relevent to all most any topic likely to come up among teenagers. The magazine could have been greatly improved with the use of some visula graphics (Like on the final version of the music magazine) however my skills in photoshop at this stage where limited and I was not sure on how to do this, and as a result of this it has made the college magazine look bland and 'Blocky'. Feed back from the target audience noted allot of these issues and was useful in making the final project. my skills in photoshop have improved far better than I had hopped for (See first draft of Music magazine) and in addition to this I have also gained some skills in photogaphy and have managed to improve the quality of my image (partly due to the quality of my camera). I can now crop and edit pictures to a much more profesional standard as a result of this my pictures are now more eye pleasing and stand out much more. I have also learned how to download and apply new brushes for the use of my magazine which give it a more profesional look and would apeal more to the target audience.
